Developer Giants Software has revealed just how mods made by third-party PC owners of its upcoming game Farming Simulator 17 will be released to owners of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.
Farming Simulator 2017 Mods
Farming Simulator 17 will be only the second console game that will be able to run mods made by its PC community (Fallout 4 was the first and there will be console mode support for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition when it launches on Oct. 28). In a blog post, Giants stated:
These mods will be checked internally before being released in order to meet all of the necessary console requirements. User created scripts are not allowed to be executed on consoles and must be removed from mods that wish to be available on consoles. Vehicle and tools mods must use either existing Farming Simulator licensed brands, use a no-name brand or will need to be discussed with the GIANTS team. Maps can be made for consoles (as long as they do not use extra scripts). The excellent thing is that the exact same file formats are used on both consoles and PC/Mac (textures, meshes, sounds, etc.) which makes content creation and testing on PC for consoles very easy!
Welcome to Farming Simulator! Here you will find the latest news, updates and other information about the game from GIANTS Software. Our moderators and other users in our online community will help you with support issues in our online forum. Have a lot of fun with Farming Simulator.
Giants Software added that there will be about 25 mods for the console versions of the game available to download when they launch. Multiplayer mods will also be supported. Xbox One console players will be able to support up to 4GB of installed mods (obviously, that means the mods can also be placed on an external hard drive as well as the console's internal storage).
Farming Simulator 17 is due for release on October 25 for $49.99.
